The training of professionals in a university must consider the profile with which its students enter and a wide range of applicants with a diversity of knowledge received in high school. This document shows the research on the level of basic knowledge that students have when entering the Industrial Engineering career applied to first-time students at the Universidad Hispanoamericana and that will allow identifying areas to strengthen from the beginning so that they can adapt to the demands of engineering courses and reduce initial failure and desertion. The methodology used was through active research of 4 weeks.
